Tall and hawk-nosed, Brett first gained notice on the London and New York stage before gaining international fame as the dashing Freddy Eynsford-Hill opposite Audrey Hepburn in the film version of "My Fair Lady" (1964). Equally adept at classical and contemporary roles, he is best remembered for his signature portrayal of Sherlock Holmes in the British-produced TV series which was originally broadcast in the US on PBS' "Mystery".
